Board-Certified Internal Medicine Specialist

About the role

The Internal Medicine Specialist will oversee the care of patients admitted under internal medicine subspecialties, admit general internal medicine cases, and provide supervision to hospitalists and residents. The role supports attending physicians in managing complex cases and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead ward rounds and manage complex patient cases.
• Respond to acutely deteriorating patients and make initial clinical decisions.
• Assist emergency department physicians with rapid decision‑making for medical patients.
• Receive ICU step‑down patients, assess appropriateness, and coordinate floor readiness.
• Handle medical emergencies on other wards, such as chest pain in orthopedic patients.
• Maintain admission rights for internal medicine cases covered by insurance.
• Support the Internal Medicine Residency Programme Director with administrative, clinical, and educational supervision.
• Participate in quality improvement programs and incorporate patient satisfaction data into departmental goals.
• Collaborate with other departments to develop systems that improve patient care delivery.
• Follow hospital policies, safety protocols, and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Board certification in Internal Medicine.
• Experience supervising residents, hospitalists, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of hospital regulations, quality improvement, and patient safety.
• Ability to communicate the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.
• Commitment to fostering a healthy work environment.
