Business Development Specialist

About the role

Climate Balanced is looking for a Business Development Specialist to drive growth of its ESG advisory, carbon markets and climate strategy services in Amman. The successful candidate will identify new market opportunities, build client relationships and support organisations in their transition toward decarbonisation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, qualify and develop new business opportunities across ESG advisory, carbon markets, climate strategy and climate finance.
• Conduct market research, competitive analysis and monitor regulatory trends to shape business development strategy.
• Lead the full sales cycle – from lead generation and qualification to proposal development, presentation and deal closure.
• Maintain accurate sales pipeline forecasts and manage CRM data.
• Prepare technical and financial proposals, pitch decks and presentations that translate complex sustainability concepts for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with technical teams to scope projects and ensure commercial viability.
• Serve as primary contact for assigned accounts, manage stakeholder relationships and support contract negotiations.
• Represent Climate Balanced at industry events, forums and client meetings to build thought leadership.
• Gather market intelligence on carbon pricing, ESG mandates and provide strategic recommendations.

Required profile

• 3–8+ years of business development, sales or consulting experience in professional services or sustainability/climate sectors.
• Proven track record of identifying opportunities, building pipelines and closing complex, technical services deals.
• Experience selling to corporate, institutional or government clients.
• Strong understanding of ESG, carbon markets and climate finance trends.
