Consultant – WASH, Climate Change, Health & Environment

About the role

The World Health Organization (WHO) in the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office is seeking an external consultant to develop a standardized Sanitation Safety Plan (SSP) Evaluation Guideline, support a regional Wastewater Environmental Surveillance workshop, and co‑facilitate a WASH FIT Training of Trainers workshop in Pakistan.

Key responsibilities

• Draft a SSP Evaluation Guideline, checklist and procedure tailored to the EMR, including measurable assessment criteria.
• Provide technical inputs, compile materials, and coordinate sessions for the Regional Workshop on Wastewater Environmental Surveillance.
• Co‑facilitate the WASH FIT Training of Trainers workshop in Pakistan, adapting agenda and training materials and supporting participants.
• Document workshop outcomes, produce summary reports and communication products (newsletters, web stories, social media content).

Required profile

• University degree in civil/environmental engineering, public health, water and sanitation engineering or related field.
• Up to 5 years of professional experience in WASH and environmental health, including technical reviews of WASH plans or guidance documents.
• Demonstrated experience conducting training workshops relevant to WASH.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and technical writing abilities.
• Knowledge of WHO Water Safety Plans (WSP) and Sanitation Safety Plans (SSP).
• Experience with workshop facilitation and preparation of technical materials.
