Contracts Engineer – Water Desalination Project

About the role

CDM Smith is looking for a Contracts Engineer to support the Aqaba‑Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project in Jordan. The role involves managing contract documentation, technical reviews and coordination with multiple stakeholders throughout the procurement and construction phases.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary, cross‑cultural teams in Jordan and internationally.
• Review and comment on draft contract documents during transition from negotiations to construction preparation.
• Provide technical input on complex engineering design submissions and cost estimates.
• Assess subcontractor/subconsultant deliverables for contractual, technical and quality compliance.
• Prepare bilingual (Arabic and English) documentation covering technical, commercial and contractual topics.
• Support preparation of pre‑construction technical and contractual documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, legal and project‑management teams to ensure construction readiness.
• Participate in meetings with US and Jordanian governments, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and other project committees.
• Assist with donor coordination, site visits, data processing and incorporation into project reports.
• Develop and submit technical reports, memos, administrative reports and presentations.

Required profile

• Experience working in multidisciplinary, cross‑cultural project environments.
• Fluent written Arabic and English.
• Proven ability to review contracts, engineering designs and cost estimates.
• Strong coordination skills with engineering, legal and project‑management functions.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and attend workshops or symposia as required.
