Country Director – Palestine Emergency (Jordan based)

About the role

The Country Director will lead Humanity & Inclusion’s emergency response for Palestine from a Jordan‑based office. Reporting to the Emergency Manager, the role oversees programme implementation, risk management and the transition of the Palestine programme to the Regional Division.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Palestine emergency programme, ensuring alignment with HI’s mandate and humanitarian standards.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team, including staff and partners, and coordinate field activities in the occupied Palestinian territory.
• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting and resource mobilisation for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
• Lead the restructuring of programme governance, risk assessment and compliance processes.
• Represent HI with donors, local authorities and other humanitarian actors, advocating for inclusive assistance for people with disabilities.
• Travel to Palestine as security conditions allow to monitor operations and support field staff.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian emergency response and programme management in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven senior leadership experience, preferably at country‑director or equivalent level.
• Strong understanding of disability inclusion and post‑conflict rehabilitation.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to work under high pressure, manage risk and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
