DIOS Investigations Division Intern – Interpretation and Support

About the role

The DIOS Investigations Division seeks an intern to provide Arabic‑English interpretation and related support for investigations, assessments and intake activities at UNRWA Headquarters in Amman. This role offers practical exposure to United Nations oversight processes and the handling of sensitive information.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate, impartial Arabic‑English interpretation during interviews, discussions, intake contacts and assessments.
• Translate or summarise documents, communications and case‑related materials while preserving meaning and confidentiality.
• Assist staff in preparing for interviews and assessments, including reviewing background materials and organising documentation.
• Help draft interview notes, summaries, chronologies or other written records under supervision.
• Support the secure handling and organisation of sensitive information in line with confidentiality requirements.
• Perform any additional support tasks for investigations, assessments and intake processes as requested.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a university degree in translation, interpretation, law, international relations, social sciences, public administration or a related field.
• Excellent command of both Arabic and English, with the ability to interpret professionally between the two languages.
• Strong drafting, organisational and analytical abilities.
• Demonstrated discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential information.
