Environmental Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Environmental Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on delivering environmental assessments, managing compliance, and supporting water supply and wastewater infrastructure projects while adhering to local and international environmental safeguards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and contribute to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and audit reports.
• Conduct field investigations, environmental analyses and hydraulic studies to support project planning.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and the safeguard requirements of international funding agencies.
• Develop environmental monitoring programmes, mitigation measures and assist in permitting processes.
• Coordinate with project teams, stakeholders, regulatory authorities and consultants on environmental matters.
• Perform hydraulic analyses and network modelling for water supply and wastewater systems using relevant software.
• Produce technical reports, documentation and project deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering with an environmental focus.
• 4–8 years of professional experience in environmental engineering, impact assessments and water/wastewater projects.
• Strong analytical, technical writing and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple assignments.

Required skills

• Proven experience preparing ESIAs, EMPs and environmental audit reports.
• Good knowledge of local environmental regulations and international safeguard frameworks.
• Experience with water supply and sewer network design.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modelling tools such as WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS.
• Familiarity with GIS and environmental modelling software.
