Field Pharmaceutical Services Officer

About the role

The Field Pharmaceutical Services Officer directs and supervises pharmaceutical services and medical supplies operations across UNRWA health centres in the field. Reporting to the Deputy Chief, Field Health Programme, the incumbent ensures efficient ordering, distribution, and quality assurance of medicines and related equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, monitor and evaluate pharmaceutical services, including ordering, cold‑chain management and distribution of medical supplies.
• Conduct supervisory visits to health centres, ensure implementation of health programme policies, and oversee dispensary operations.
• Provide technical guidance on prescribing practices, medical equipment, and pharmaceutical services to field staff.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics and other departments for seamless supply operations.
• Plan and deliver in‑service training for pharmaceutical staff and conduct health studies related to medical supplies.

Required profile

• University degree in pharmacy (or related discipline) and a valid pharmacy licence for the duty station.
• At least six years of experience in pharmacy services, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory role.
• Current residence in the duty station (Jordan).
• Fluency in English (UN Level II/III) and Arabic (UN Level III) as required.

Required skills

• Pharmacy practice and supply chain management.
• Knowledge of WHO guidelines on quality assurance of medical supplies.
• Proficiency with UNRWA Health Information System and standard computer applications.
• Understanding of basic supply and financial procedures.
