Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Consultant

About the role

The International Water Management Institute is seeking a GEDSI Expert to provide technical leadership for integrating gender equality, disability, and social inclusion principles across the Jahez Project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare an inception package assessing the current GEDSI Action Plan and develop a workplan with coordination mechanisms.
• Deliver quarterly technical advisory updates, reviewing project activities, partner deliverables, and communication materials for GEDSI compliance.
• Design and deliver up to three capacity‑building sessions on GEDSI mainstreaming, inclusive stakeholder engagement, and GEDSI‑sensitive MEL.
• Support MEL teams by reviewing GEDSI indicators, data disaggregation, monitoring tools, and reporting guidance.
• Develop practical GEDSI tools and guidance, such as checklists and self‑assessment templates.
• Provide GEDSI input for project reviews, donor engagements, learning events, and procurement documents.
• Produce a final learning and recommendations report summarising progress, challenges, risks, and best practices.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Policy, Human Rights, Sociology, Disability Studies, or related field.
• 7–10 years of professional experience in gender equality, disability inclusion, and social inclusion programming, especially within climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, natural resource management, water, or resilience projects.
• Proven experience on FCDO‑funded projects or with major bilateral/multilateral donors.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of safeguarding, intersectionality, and inclusive development approaches.
• Experience designing and delivering capacity‑building initiatives.
• Experience supporting MEL systems with GEDSI‑related indicators.
• Excellent analytical, facilitation, communication, and report‑writing abilities.
