About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University seeks a dedicated educator for a renewable 9‑month, non‑tenure‑track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Microbiology. The role focuses on undergraduate instruction, with an emphasis on environmental microbiology areas such as soil, marine, and industrial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Teach in‑person undergraduate courses (e.g., Soil Microbiology, Marine Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, Introductory Microbiology) with medium to large enrollments.
• Design and deliver course content aligned with expertise and departmental curriculum.
• Assess student learning, provide feedback, and hold regular office hours.
• Utilize the Canvas learning management system for course materials and communication.
• Collaborate with faculty to enhance the undergraduate experience and participate in departmental service.
• Potentially teach online M.S. courses, summer sessions, or study‑abroad programs.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Microbiology or a closely related field preferred; Master’s with significant teaching experience also considered.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, engaging learning environments.
• Strong interest in environmental, ecological, or industrial microbiology.
• Ability to teach medium‑large classes and support student success.

Required skills
