Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Microbiology (Non‑tenure Track)

About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University seeks a dedicated educator for a 9‑month, renewable, non‑tenure‑track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Microbiology, starting August 15, 2026 or later. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality undergraduate instruction in microbiology and expanding course offerings in environmental microbiology.

Key responsibilities

• Teach in‑person undergraduate courses with medium to large enrollments, including Soil, Marine, Industrial, and Introductory Microbiology.
• Design and deliver effective course content aligned with expertise.
• Assess student learning, provide feedback, and hold regular office hours.
• Utilize the Canvas learning management system for course management.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve the undergraduate experience.
• Participate in departmental service and broader academic life.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Microbiology or a closely related field preferred; Master’s degree with significant teaching experience also considered.
• Strong interest in undergraduate microbiology instruction and inclusive teaching practices.
• Commitment to broadening participation in science both in the classroom and the community.
