Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Microbiology (Undergraduate)

About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University seeks a 9‑month renewable, non‑tenure‑track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Microbiology to begin on August 15, 2026 or later. The position focuses on undergraduate instruction and expanding course offerings in environmental microbiology.

Key responsibilities

• Teach in‑person undergraduate courses such as Soil, Marine, Industrial, and Introductory Microbiology, plus additional courses aligned with expertise.
• Design and deliver effective course content, assess student learning, and provide constructive feedback.
• Utilize the Canvas learning management system for course materials and assessments.
• Hold regular office hours to support student success and collaborate with colleagues to improve the undergraduate experience.
• Participate in departmental service and may teach online M.S. courses or summer offerings.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Microbiology or a closely related field preferred; Master’s degree with significant teaching experience also considered.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching university‑level courses and strong communication skills.
• Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and broadening participation in science.

Required skills

• Expertise in Microbiology, particularly environmental, soil, marine, industrial, or bioremediation areas.
• Proficiency with the Canvas learning management system.
