Legal Officer (P3)

About the role

The Legal Officer (P3) provides independent and impartial legal assistance to United Nations staff members within the internal justice system. Reporting to the Chief of the Office of Staff Legal Assistance (OSLA), the officer supports cases before the United Nations Dispute Tribunal and the United Nations Appeals Tribunal.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver legal advice and representation to staff in administrative, disciplinary and appellate proceedings.
• Assist in the preparation of legal submissions, briefs and evidence for UN internal justice cases.
• Ensure compliance with UN internal justice policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with the Chief of OSLA and other legal professionals to maintain the effective functioning of the legal assistance programme.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited university.
• Experience in administrative or disciplinary legal matters, preferably within an international or multilateral organization.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and impartially.
