Out-Patient Access Officer – Patient Affairs (Shift Work)

About the role

The Out‑Patient Access Officer serves as the primary point of contact for patients entering the hospital through outpatient clinics or the emergency department. Working on a shift basis, the role ensures a welcoming environment, accurate registration, and smooth coordination between patients, physicians, and support teams.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, provide information on visit flow, waiting times, and direct them to appropriate service areas.
• Assist patients with mobility needs, including wheelchair provision and walking assistance.
• Collect and enter demographic, insurance, and eligibility data into the billing system accurately and promptly.
• Obtain signatures, medical authorizations, and coordinate referrals as required.
• Verify insurance coverage, secure authorizations, and determine patients' financial responsibility.
• Manage electronic queuing and scheduling systems, notify providers of patient arrivals, and track appointment status, including no‑shows and rescheduling.
• Collaborate with patient financial services to confirm coverage and process payments.

Required profile

• Experience in patient‑facing roles within outpatient or emergency department settings.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and verification.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and clinical staff.
