Personal Property Specialist (USN)

About the role

The Personal Property Specialist will operate a multi‑service Personal Property Processing and Shipping Office in Zarqa, Jordan, ensuring compliance with Defense Transportation Regulation and Joint Travel Regulation. The role focuses on delivering accurate, timely customer service while managing household goods, unaccompanied baggage, and personally procured moves.

Key responsibilities

• Control the flow of personal property information from initial contact through final delivery, meeting regulatory and customer requirements.
• Provide counseling on entitlements, responsibilities, and shipment options, and assist customers with the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) for applications, claims, and entitlement clarification.
• Book shipments, coordinate storage, manage Storage‑In‑Transit (SIT), process Non‑Temporary Storage extensions, and conduct quality‑control inspections of shipments.
• Process administrative actions such as invoices, loss/damage claims, and required forms (e.g., DD 1299, DD 1797) while maintaining records in accordance with AR 25‑400‑2.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance.
• Minimum one year of recent experience in a transportation or personal property office, including counseling customers on entitlements and processing shipment applications.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license and passport meeting OCONUS requirements, CAC eligibility, and English fluency.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer programs and office automation tools.
• Experience using the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) or similar transportation management systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication for explaining entitlements and procedures.
