Project Manager – Nature‑Based Solutions & Cash‑for‑Work

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of a nature‑based solutions and cash‑for‑work programme in the Jordan Valley. The role focuses on soil and water conservation structures, including gabion dams, retaining walls, riprap, culvert rehabilitation and afforestation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership in line with DRC and donor guidelines.
• Oversee planning, budgeting, forecasting and execution of all project activities.
• Serve as primary liaison with the donor (GIZ), Jordan Valley Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Cash‑for‑Work SOPs, technical standards, safety protocols and donor requirements.
• Maintain a minimum field presence of three days per week, supervising daily implementation, workforce productivity and contractor performance.
• Prepare regular reports, contribute to learning and ensure integration of decent work principles and Do No Harm.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing construction‑focused humanitarian projects.
• Strong knowledge of soil and water conservation techniques.
• Excellent coordination skills with donors, government agencies and engineering firms.
• Ability to work predominantly in the field and stay in DRC guest house accommodation.
