Registrar – Dispute Tribunal

About the role

The Registrar serves as the principal legal officer for the UNRWA Dispute Tribunal, supporting the Judges in adjudicating cases and ensuring the smooth operation of the Tribunal.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the legal team in case analysis, legal research, and drafting judgments under the Judges’ direction.
• Review, edit, and finalize drafts to maintain uniformity in all Tribunal issuances.
• Provide substantive, technical and administrative support to the Judges, including enforcement of procedural rules, scheduling hearings and managing logistics.
• Identify cases suitable for informal resolution and refer them to the mediation coordinating group.
• Prepare periodic reports, maintain the case law database and draft summaries of relevant judgments.
• Manage the Registry’s human, financial and material resources, draft the annual budget and oversee procurement and staff performance evaluations.
• Represent the Tribunal in internal and external relations, conduct outreach sessions, and handle correspondence with applicants and respondents.
• Maintain the electronic case management system and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements.

Required profile

• Legal background with experience in dispute resolution or administrative tribunals.
• Proven ability to supervise a legal team and manage complex case files.
• Strong organizational skills and experience in budgeting and procurement.
• Excellent written communication for drafting judgments and official publications.
