Senior Backend Engineer (.NET)

About the role

Foodics, a restaurant management ecosystem and payment technology provider founded in 2014 and operating in over 35 countries, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer in Amman. The engineer joins the tech team and creates, maintains, tests and debugs scalable backend services and web applications, aiming to deliver stable, high-performing systems that power Foodics products at scale. The role focuses on .NET but also involves PHP Laravel.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and guide the architecture of several backend services and web applications
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and engineers across teams
• Design and implement scalable, secure, high-performance backend systems
• Develop and maintain APIs and microservices mainly with .NET
• Maintain existing PHP Laravel applications and services
• Write clean, tested code, solve performance problems and integrate data from services, third-party systems and databases
• Improve reliability, scalability and observability, and mentor junior engineers
• Research new technologies and reduce technical debt

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience building large-scale backend systems and web applications
• Strong .NET / C# experience; good hands-on PHP Laravel experience
• Experience with scalable, high-availability, low-latency services and REST APIs and distributed systems
• Relational databases, caching and queuing (Redis), background jobs and async processing
• Unit and integration testing, SOLID principles, fast-paced engineering environments
• English verbal communication and ability to work remotely across time zones
• Technical leadership or cloud/container/observability experience is a plus
