Senior Design Engineer – Solar PV

About the role

Philadelphia Solar is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to lead the design and engineering of Solar PV projects in Jordan. The role covers commercial, industrial and utility‑scale installations from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of Solar PV systems for commercial, industrial and utility‑scale projects.
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, detailed and IFC design packages, including PV layouts, Single Line Diagrams, electrical drawings and cable routing.
• Perform PV system simulations and energy yield assessments using PVsyst and optimise designs for performance and cost.
• Select and evaluate modules, inverters, mounting structures, trackers, transformers and switchgear, preparing BOQ/BOM and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with procurement, construction, project management and sales to ensure smooth project execution and compliance with IEC, Jordanian and NEPCO standards.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and resolve design‑related RFIs.
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain internal design standards and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Solar PV design and engineering, including commercial, industrial or utility‑scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of PV system sizing, electrical layouts, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations and grid connection requirements.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• PVsyst for energy yield analysis.
• AutoCAD for electrical drawings.
• Helioscope, SketchUp or Civil 3D for layout design (advantage).
• Experience with BOQ/BOM preparation and technical specification writing.
• Understanding of IEC standards, Jordanian grid codes and NEPCO requirements.
• Familiarity with BESS integration (advantage).
