Senior Java Engineer

About the role

Nortal is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join its globally distributed teams. You will work on high‑impact digital projects, collaborating with colleagues across borders to deliver robust, cloud‑native solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate fluently in English, both spoken and written.
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams and articulate business value.
• Create and maintain API documentation and technical user stories.
• Approve technical concepts and guide implementation decisions.
• Automate documentation generation where possible.
• Run Scrum or Kanban processes as needed.
• Identify and troubleshoot performance issues in distributed systems.
• Evaluate tools and frameworks for the engineering team.
• Analyze end‑to‑end flows and interactions within distributed architectures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years of professional software development experience.
• Strong communication skills with fluent English.
• Experience working in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Ability to assess and improve performance of large‑scale applications.

Required skills

• Java and Spring Framework.
• Front‑end technologies: React and Angular.
• Major Java frameworks and libraries.
• Cloud‑native development on AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Docker and Kubernetes (plus).
• SQL schema optimization and NoSQL concepts.
• Version control with Git.
• Continuous Delivery and DevSecOps practices.
• Performance and security testing methodologies.
