Senior Legal Advisor – Strategic & Regulatory Support

About the role

The Senior Legal Advisor provides strategic and operational legal support to MetLife Jordan, ensuring compliance with Jordanian laws, insurance regulations and MetLife global policies. Acting as a trusted advisor to business leaders, the role safeguards the company’s legal and reputational interests while enabling growth.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely legal advice on corporate, insurance, commercial, employment and regulatory matters.
• Support business initiatives, product launches, partnerships and strategic projects from a legal and compliance perspective.
• Interpret new or amended laws and regulations affecting the insurance and financial services sector.
• Ensure compliance with Jordan Insurance Directorate, Central Bank of Jordan and MetLife internal governance standards; act as primary legal contact with regulators and external counsel.
• Draft, review, negotiate and approve a wide range of contracts, including insurance, distribution, bancassurance, vendor, outsourcing and data‑protection agreements.
• Oversee corporate governance compliance, internal policies and codes of conduct.
• Manage litigation and disputes, coordinate with external lawyers and control legal costs.
• Provide employment law guidance, support HR on labor‑law matters and review related policies.
• Identify legal risks, contribute to enterprise risk discussions and deliver legal awareness training.

Required profile

• LLB (mandatory) and preferably an LLM or professional legal certifications.
• Licensed to practice law in Jordan (Jordan Bar Association membership).
• Significant experience in insurance, financial services or related regulatory environments.
• Proven ability to advise senior management and work cross‑functionally.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and dispute‑resolution skills.
