Structural Design Engineer (Re‑advertised)

About the role

The Structural Design Engineer will join UNRWA’s engineering team in Amman, reporting to the Structural Design Lead Engineer. The role focuses on delivering safe, cost‑effective structural solutions for a variety of UNRWA projects across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and detailed structural designs for schools, hospitals, clinics, shelters, water tanks, pumping stations, warehouses and other UNRWA facilities.
• Ensure designs comply with UNRWA policies, design criteria, local and international codes, and withstand calculated loads at optimal cost.
• Develop and review tender documents, specifications, and Bill of Quantities for non‑standard structural items.
• Assess material properties, evaluate geotechnical reports, and advise on structural implications.
• Provide technical advice for alteration works, produce technical reports, and conduct building system inspections.
• Use computer simulations to predict structural behaviour under various conditions.
• Coordinate with construction and field teams to resolve design issues during implementation and update as‑built drawings.
