Sustainable Finance Analyst - Short Term, Home Based

About the role

The Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS) of UNDP is seeking a Sustainable Finance Analyst to support the Green Financing Platform (GFP) for Arab States. The GFP aims to mobilize private green finance and strengthen sustainable investment ecosystems. The analyst will support the Sustainable Finance Landscape Assessment (SFLA) and the Common Framework of Green Finance Taxonomies for GCC countries, through analytical work, programmatic support, policy dialogue and technical assistance. The position is short term and home based.

Key responsibilities

• SFLA: support milestones 2-4, working with consultants, UNDP Country Offices and national counterparts to assess policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks, market actors, financial instruments and capital flows.
• Coordinate country deep dives in selected Arab States and help prepare country diagnostic and regional synthesis reports.
• Support the first phase of the digital Sustainable Finance Landscape Platform and organize capacity-building workshops with governments, regulators, financial institutions and the private sector.
• Contribute to knowledge products such as assessment reports, policy briefs and investor guides.
• Assist in developing the GCC Green Finance Taxonomies framework, providing day-to-day support to the senior taxonomy consultant.
• Map and analyse the taxonomy landscape against international taxonomies, and engage with the GCC Secretariat, ministries of finance, central banks and regulators.
• Organize awareness sessions, communicate regularly with the European Commission (DG INTPA) and help with the Arabic translation, dissemination and launch of the Framework.

• Reports to the Sustainable Finance and Private Sector Specialist, RBAS, and is guided by the Regional Programme Manager.
