Sustainable Livelihoods Internship

About the role

The Sustainable Livelihoods Unit of UNRWA is looking for a motivated intern to support the design and implementation of livelihood programmes for Palestine refugees in Jordan and Syria. This 3‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in project development, resource mobilisation and knowledge management within a humanitarian context.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in drafting project proposals, concept notes and donor briefs.
• Conduct desk reviews and background research on sectors such as green economy, youth employment and informal markets.
• Map funding opportunities and compile donor profiles.
• Support the organisation of consultations, workshops and partnership‑building events.
• Develop communication materials including presentations, infographics, case studies and reports.
• Help create logical frameworks, indicators and budget narratives for new initiatives.
• Maintain the team’s document repository and perform basic data entry and tracking.
• Provide ad‑hoc support for programme design, resource mobilisation and knowledge management.

Required profile

• Strong writing, research and communication skills in English; Arabic is an asset.
• Academic or volunteer experience in development or humanitarian programming is desirable.
• Excellent time‑management, organisational and intercultural teamwork abilities.
• Interest in refugee services, human rights and sustainable development.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with data‑visualisation tools or Canva.
