Unit Mail Clerk (USN) – Full‑time

About the role

The Unit Mail Clerk will operate the consolidated mailroom at JTC Zarqa, ensuring compliance with DoD, USPS, and installation postal regulations. This full‑time position supports the efficient flow of all mail categories while maintaining security and customer service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the mailroom in accordance with DoD 4525.6‑M, USPS standards, and local policies.
• Control the receipt, sorting, processing, and distribution of prograde, retrograde, directory service, IDS, and express mail.
• Maintain accountability, chain‑of‑custody, and secure storage for all incoming and outgoing mail.
• Verify customer identity and authorization before releasing mail, adhering to postal security requirements.
• Handle special mail categories such as casualty, coalition partner, contaminated/suspicious mail, and absentee ballots.
• Implement anti‑tampering procedures and ensure the mailroom passes internal and external inspections.
• Maintain records in line with AR 25‑400‑2 and other postal directives.
• Integrate feedback and inspection lessons to improve operations.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Minimum six months of recent mail handling experience (military or civilian).
• Valid driver’s license and passport with required validity periods.
• Eligibility for a Common Access Card (CAC) and authorized entry onto U.S. military installations.
• Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
