Chair of Clinical Sciences

About the role

The Chair of Clinical Sciences provides academic and operational leadership for the clinical sciences component of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, overseeing Years 4‑6. Reporting to the Dean of Medicine, the role ensures that clinical education, placements and workplace‑based learning are aligned with program outcomes, accreditation standards and evolving healthcare needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead curriculum review, development, mapping and enhancement for Years 4‑6.
• Ensure integration of clinical and basic sciences and alignment with accreditation requirements.
• Promote innovative educational methodologies, including simulation‑based education.
• Develop and oversee clinical placements and workplace‑based learning experiences.
• Build and maintain relationships with teaching hospitals, healthcare providers and clinical partners.
• Monitor quality and consistency of clinical learning environments.
• Support clinical educators and placement supervisors to deliver high‑quality education.
• Collaborate with the Dean, Chair of Basic Sciences and hospital leadership to prepare students for postgraduate training.

Required profile

• Proven academic and operational leadership experience in clinical sciences education.
• Experience leading curriculum development and quality assurance for an MD program.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior academic, clinical and administrative stakeholders.
