Director, Programme Management (Temporary)

About the role

The Director, Programme Management (Temporary) will provide senior leadership for the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) at the regional level, based in Amman. Reporting to the Assistant Secretary‑General/Director of UNDCO, the role supports the Resident Coordinator system and advances the UN 2.0 agenda across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead DCO’s regional interface, ensuring effective horizontal collaboration across the UN Development System.
• Advance collaboration with regional mechanisms, including Regional Platforms for Integration.
• Provide field‑facing support to regional and country offices in close partnership with the Regional Economic Commission.
• Enable the Resident Coordinator system to deliver coherent, timely, and high‑quality support for DCO’s mandate.
• Work closely with senior leaders of the Partnerships and Engagement Division, SDG Coordination Division, RC System Leadership Branch, and the Office of the ASG to promote system‑wide SDG delivery.
• Contribute to strategic planning, data‑driven decision‑making, and innovation initiatives aligned with the UN 2.0 shift.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in programme management, coordination, or related fields within the UN system or comparable international organisations.
• Deep understanding of the Resident Coordinator system, SDG implementation, and regional development mechanisms.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑stakeholder collaborations and drive strategic initiatives.
• Strong analytical and strategic foresight capabilities, with a focus on data, digital, and innovation.
