Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Plant Genomics

About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a full‑time, 12‑month Postdoctoral Research Fellow starting January 15 2027. The position is non‑tenure‑track and focuses on plant genomics and evolutionary development within the CapituLab.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comparative developmental transcriptomic analyses across diverse plant taxa.
• Generate interspecific mapping populations for target species.
• Design and execute target‑capture sequencing (HybSeq) to identify and validate gene duplications.
• Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers in the laboratory.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in a relevant biological or genomic discipline.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in genomic research.
• Strong interest in teaching and managing students at the bench.

Required skills

• Plant molecular and genomic techniques, including library preparation.
• Advanced computational analysis using command‑line tools, R, and Python.
• Experience with target‑capture sequencing methods (preferred HybSeq).
