Associate Director, Engineering

About the role

The Associate Director, Engineering plans and directs engineering activities to improve organisational performance. The role oversees technology transfer of new products and processes, ensures product quality and reliability, and manages facilities, utilities maintenance and installation across all manufacturing sites to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement departmental strategies aligned with the Engineering vision and mission.
• Recommend and enforce policy, process and procedural improvements to meet legislative and quality requirements.
• Consolidate, recommend and monitor the Engineering budget, identifying cost‑reduction and performance‑improvement opportunities.
• Lead project teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, budget and quality standards.
• Oversee New Product Introduction, testing and sustaining engineering to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.
• Ensure preventive maintenance, spare‑part availability and equipment selection, procurement and installation meet GMP guidelines.
• Manage FAT and SAT for new equipment, minimise equipment downtime and allocate CAPEX efficiently.
• Coordinate facility infrastructure maintenance, environmental monitoring and utility supply to comply with GMP standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and mentor engineering staff to achieve departmental objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 12‑15 years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 3 years in progressively senior managerial roles.
