Chair of Clinical Sciences

About the role

The Chair of Clinical Sciences provides academic and operational leadership for the clinical sciences component of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, overseeing Years 4‑6. This senior position ensures that clinical education, placements and workplace‑based learning are aligned with curriculum outcomes, accreditation standards and evolving healthcare needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead curriculum review, development, mapping and continuous enhancement for Years 4‑6.
• Ensure integration of clinical and foundational sciences and alignment with program learning outcomes.
• Oversee the design, quality assurance and improvement of clinical placements and workplace‑based learning.
• Build and maintain partnerships with teaching hospitals and healthcare providers.
• Support clinical educators and placement supervisors to deliver high‑quality education.
• Promote innovative teaching methods, including simulation‑based education.

Required profile

• Proven academic leadership experience in medical education.
• Strong understanding of MD curriculum design, accreditation and competency‑based assessment.
• Excellent collaboration skills with faculty, hospital leadership and curriculum committees.
• Track record of enhancing clinical learning environments and integrating basic and clinical sciences.
