Commis II – Casual

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Commis II to join our hotel kitchen in Aqaba. In this casual, full‑time position you will support the culinary team by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes and maintaining a clean work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, storing, washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure, mix and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Prepare cold foods and operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test foods for doneness, monitor food quality, and ensure correct temperature of appliances and food.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain a clean, disinfected kitchen area.
• Follow all company safety, security and food‑hygiene policies; report maintenance needs and unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a professional appearance, protect company assets and uphold confidentiality.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, reaching overhead, bending, lifting and moving items up to 25 lb.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑preparation experience.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for an entire shift and perform repetitive motions.
• Capability to lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 25 lb without assistance.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food preparation techniques such as chopping, portioning and measuring.
• Food safety and hygiene procedures, including temperature monitoring.
