Counsel – Regional Legal Team

About the role

Marsh People & Investments is seeking a talented Counsel to join its regional legal team in Amman. This hybrid role supports Marsh and Mercer businesses across the Middle East on a broad mix of legal, regulatory, and commercial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on corporate and commercial matters, draft and negotiate contracts, sub‑contracts and vendor agreements.
• Support stakeholders on contentious issues, including disputes, pre‑litigation, employment and commercial matters.
• Manage external counsel, oversee E&O claims, and assist with internal investigations and records management.
• Stay current on legal and regulatory developments, assess implications, and help develop risk‑mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to training, policy development, process improvement, and respond to RFPs where legal input is required.

Required profile

• Recognised legal qualification and admission to practice in Jordan, another Middle East jurisdiction, or a common‑law jurisdiction.
• 3–5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a law firm or in‑house team.
• Strong experience in contentious matters, especially commercial and employment disputes.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, drafting skills and ability to work independently.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

• Drafting and negotiating contracts with a clear understanding of legal risk.
• Managing external counsel and complex legal projects.
• Handling E&O claims and internal investigations.
