Education in Emergencies Consultant – 12‑month Remote

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an experienced consultant to provide technical assistance on mainstreaming Education in Emergencies (EiE) into education sector planning. This 12‑month remote assignment will support countries in integrating crisis‑sensitive approaches, climate‑change considerations and digital learning into their sector plans.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany ministries and partners through the full education sector planning cycle, ensuring EiE is embedded in analysis, design, implementation and monitoring.
• Guide the integration of cross‑cutting priorities such as climate resilience, digital learning, evidence‑based decision‑making and financing analysis.
• Produce guidance notes, tools and recommendations that make sector plans risk‑informed and crisis‑sensitive.
• Coordinate closely with the Senior Education Adviser and other UNICEF pillars to align humanitarian response, recovery and long‑term system transformation.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building among country teams and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Education, International Development, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in education sector planning, policy development, systems strengthening and Education in Emergencies.
• Proven experience working with governments, UN agencies and development partners in crisis‑affected or fragile contexts.
• Strong understanding of risk‑informed planning, climate‑change impacts on education and digital learning solutions.
