Head of Commercial Finance & Business Performance

About the role

Our client, a leading international retailer expanding in Jordan, is seeking a Head of Commercial Finance & Business Performance to join the senior management team. This senior leader will partner with the General Manager and functional heads to shape strategy, drive profitable growth and embed a performance‑led culture.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted strategic and commercial adviser to the General Manager and senior leadership team.
• Lead annual business‑planning, budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning processes.
• Translate strategic objectives into measurable financial and operational priorities.
• Evaluate performance across sales, margin, profitability, costs and productivity, providing forward‑looking insight.
• Identify emerging risks, performance gaps and growth opportunities, and challenge commercial assumptions.
• Lead scenario planning, investment appraisals, feasibility studies and business‑case development.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve resource allocation, pricing, promotions and cost optimisation.
• Establish and maintain meaningful performance indicators and ensure robust financial governance.

Required profile

• Extensive leadership experience in commercial finance, FP&A or strategic finance, preferably at Head of Finance or Commercial Finance Director level.
• Professional accounting qualification or advanced degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
• Strong background in retail, consumer goods, hospitality or distribution environments.
• Proven track record of budgeting, forecasting and strategic business‑planning ownership.
• Ability to advise senior executives, influence decisions and present clear recommendations.
• Advanced financial modelling, scenario‑planning and investment‑appraisal capabilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation and people‑leadership skills.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is a strong advantage.
