Legal Consultant - Technology Facilitated GBV Glossary

About the role

JOSA is seeking a Legal Consultant to review and update its Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence (TF GBV) glossary, which was first published in 2025 in Arabic and English. The glossary covers 178 terms and definitions across 11 categories; the consultant's work focuses on adding and clarifying legal terms so that civil society, professionals, the National Centre for Human Rights, the Jordan National Commission for Women, the media commission and ministries can understand, prevent and enforce protections against TF GBV. The consultancy lasts three months and reports directly to the Digital Social Innovation Programme Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update the existing glossary to reflect current legal content aligned with Jordanian and international law.
• Carry out a desk review to identify additional legal terms and definitions related to TF GBV.
• Develop a focus group discussion guide and run two discussions with stakeholders such as lawyers and journalists to validate and refine terminology.
• Coordinate with the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) and JOSA, including three monthly check-in meetings with the Programme Officer and Programme Coordinator.
• Submit draft deliverables and incorporate feedback in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Degree in Law (required).
• Familiarity with gender-based violence, digital rights and technology and human rights (required).
• Fluency in Arabic and English (required).
• Experience in legal research and drafting.
• Experience with NGOs, research or policy-related projects is preferred.

Deliverables

• A proposed list of new terminologies and an updated structure, for approval by JOSA and DIHR.
• A desk review report on legal terms and definitions.
• Two completed focus group discussions.
• An enhanced TF GBV glossary in editable format, with clearly defined legal terms, alignment with legal frameworks, and proper references and citations.
