MEAL Manager – National (Syria)

About the role

The MEAL Manager will lead monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning systems for Save the Children’s programmes across Syria. Working from the Field Office and travelling to project sites, the role ensures data quality, evidence‑based programming and compliance with child safeguarding and data protection policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain MEAL systems for all projects in the Field Office, aligning with SCI strategies and quality benchmarks.
• Lead project reviews, evaluations, budgeting and recruitment for the MEAL function.
• Support proposal writing, logframe development and timely reporting of Syria‑wide results.
• Provide technical assistance to SCI partners on MEAL processes and tools.
• Capture and disseminate contextual lessons learned to inform future programming and research agendas.
• Oversee the rollout of secure data management systems at field level and ensure compliance with SCI data protection policies.
• Collaborate closely with the Accountability function to embed child‑friendly, gender‑responsive approaches.

Required profile

• Proven experience in MEAL within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of child safeguarding (Level 3 contact) and ability to work with vulnerable populations.
• Willingness to conduct at least 30 % field visits across Damascus, Aleppo, Raqqa or Qamishli.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and coordination skills.
