Senior Research Officer - MSNA (Global, Amman)

About the role

IMPACT Initiatives, a Geneva-based humanitarian NGO managing the REACH Initiative, is recruiting a Senior Research Officer for its Global Multi-Sector Needs Assessment (MSNA) team. The position sits in the Research Systems Unit, reports to the MSNA Research and Development Specialist and works closely with the Global Data Team. It is based in Amman, Jordan, with up to 20% field deployment, on a 12-month contract with possible extension, starting as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Update the MSNA sectoral indicator guidance, the clean dataset and analysis table templates, the Global Indicator Bank, the Data Analysis Plan and KoBo templates, and the MSNA sampling guidance, and make them accessible to external audiences.
• Revamp the Multi-Sector Needs Index (MSNI) guidance note, contribute lessons learned and support its presentation to external stakeholders.
• Support cross-crisis analysis, including consolidating large country datasets and producing quantitative analysis, briefs and dashboards.
• Engage with global stakeholders, donors and REACH partners on MSNI and cross-crisis findings through articles, webinars and similar activities.
• Work on reusable analysis pipelines, the R package environment (including humind) and the MSNA Explorer, and automate repetitive MSNA workflows.
• Provide technical support to country teams on research design, sampling, data collection, cleaning, analysis and reporting, and give ad hoc surge support including country deployment up to 20%.
• Contribute content to the Training and Certification Programme on indicator selection and analysis.
• Act as HQ focal point for several countries: monthly check-ins, document reviews, use of the MSNA Info Tracker, and review of country outputs against minimum requirements with the research quality assurance unit.
• Support the MSNA Community of Practice and maintain the MSNA FAQ and intranet hub.
