Assistant Coach Redbird Hockey

About the role

The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach of the Redbird Men's Hockey team at McGill University. Working under U Sports bylaws and university policies, the role focuses on developing varsity student‑athletes and managing key administrative functions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in coaching, practice planning, and implementation of training camps and clinics.
• Coordinate campus visits for recruits and maintain alumni relations.
• Administer fitness, skills, and mental‑preparation assessments for individual and group athletes.
• Monitor technical, tactical, and strategic development of the team throughout the season.
• Track academic progress and support the cognitive and emotional wellbeing of student‑athletes.
• Compile statistics, produce reports, and contribute to budgeting, travel, and scheduling.
• Collaborate with University Advancement on fundraising and event organization.

Required profile

• Experience coaching varsity‑level hockey and familiarity with U Sports regulations.
• Ability to manage administrative tasks, recruit visits, and alumni engagement.
• Commitment to integrating McGill’s values and supporting student‑athlete development.
