Assistant Electrical Design Engineer – UNRWA

About the role

The Assistant Electrical Design Engineer supports the design and implementation of electrical systems for UNRWA building projects, including schools, hospitals, shelters and renewable energy installations. The role reports to the Electrical Design Engineer (A14) and is open to internal and external candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical designs using CAD software for a variety of construction projects, ensuring compliance with Agency policies, local and international codes, and green‑building standards.
• Contribute to tender documents, draft specifications for non‑standard items, and prepare descriptions for Bills of Quantities and cost estimates.
• Provide technical support for electrical alteration works, including assessment reports, inspections and remediation recommendations.
• Collaborate with construction teams to resolve design issues, update as‑built drawings and adapt designs to site requirements.
• Coordinate with other designers to optimise solutions, suggest improvements and ensure safety and protection standards.
• Assist in drafting Terms of Reference for consultants, monitor their work and ensure adherence to design criteria.
• Prepare inputs for technical, design and progress reports.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electrical design CAD software.
• Knowledge of renewable energy and photovoltaic (PV) systems.
• Experience preparing tender documentation, specifications and Bills of Quantities.
• Ability to produce technical and assessment reports.
• Understanding of local and international electrical codes and safety standards.
