Chief of Environment Division

About the role

UNRWA is seeking a senior leader to head its Environment Division. The Chief, Environment Division reports directly to the Director of Infrastructure and Camp Improvement (D1) and will play a pivotal role in guiding environmental initiatives across UNRWA’s operations in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a range of professional, general services and contract staff assigned to the division.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental policies in line with UNRWA’s mission to support Palestine refugees.
• Coordinate with other UNRWA divisions to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into camp infrastructure, relief, and development projects.

Required profile

• Demonstrated senior‑level experience in managing environmental programmes within large, multi‑national organisations.
• Understanding of UNRWA’s mandate and the humanitarian context of Palestine refugees.
