Early Warning Systems Consultant – Climate Resilience (Remote, Bangkok)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an experienced Early Warning Systems (EWS) Consultant to support its Climate Resilience Centre of Excellence. The consultant will work remotely from Bangkok, with occasional travel, for a 19‑month assignment focused on strengthening child‑sensitive early warning mechanisms across UNICEF programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on the design, implementation and scaling of early warning systems for climate‑related risks.
• Contribute to the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative and the 100,000 Climate Resilient Schools programme.
• Develop knowledge products, guidelines and training materials for UNICEF staff and partners.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and learning activities related to EWS interventions.
• Collaborate with cross‑sectoral teams (WASH, health, education, child protection) to integrate early warning components into programme designs.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in climate science, disaster risk management, public health, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in early warning systems, climate resilience or humanitarian programming.
• Demonstrated experience working with international organisations or UN agencies.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
