Customer Engineer – AI Startup (On‑site, Amman)

About the role

Our client, a Y Combinator‑backed AI startup, is looking for a Customer Engineer to act as the technical bridge between enterprise customers and the product. The role is hands‑on, involves writing code, and requires frequent interaction with customers across the US, EU, MENA and GCC time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact, responding quickly to queries, joining video calls and owning end‑to‑end resolution.
• Lead technical onboarding, guiding enterprise customers through setup, configuration and integration with tools such as Zendesk, Intercom and HubSpot.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues in live customer environments.
• Ship code – implement fixes, integration enhancements and small features directly in the Node.js/TypeScript codebase.
• Collaborate with product engineering to share customer context, escalate systemic problems and help prioritize the roadmap.
• Develop deep expertise in AI agents and prompt engineering to advise customers on optimizing support operations.
• Document recurring issues, solutions and integration patterns to enrich internal knowledge bases.

Required profile

• 2‑3+ years of professional software engineering experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience with AI agents and prompt engineering.
• Previous customer‑facing technical work in a SaaS environment (onboarding, debugging integrations, etc.).
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, with confidence on video calls with enterprise stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑moving startup and across multiple time zones.
