Director of Style

About the role

The Director of Style is responsible for the daily shift operations of Housekeeping, Recreation/Health Club and, if applicable, Laundry. The position directs and works with employees so that guestrooms, public spaces and employee areas stay clean and well maintained, completes inspections and holds people accountable for corrective action, while helping ensure guest and employee satisfaction within the operating budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage housekeeping operations: communicate guest room status to the Front Desk, coordinate with Engineering on maintenance, supervise the general cleaning schedule and obtain lists of rooms to clean and prospective check-outs.
• Inventories stock, helps order guestroom supplies, cleaning supplies and uniforms, and supports an inspection program for guestrooms and public spaces.
• Supervise daily housekeeping shifts and ensure compliance with policies, standards and procedures.
• Help manage department costs: control controllable expenses, understand the impact of operations on property financial goals, and read budgets, operating statements and payroll reports.
• Handle guest problems and complaints, improve service performance and focus on guest satisfaction in departmental meetings.
• Take part in accident investigations, supervise staffing levels, and ensure fair and consistent application of property policies and disciplinary procedures.
• Train new room attendants, give feedback on service behaviour, take part in performance appraisals, help interview and hire team members, and run a departmental orientation program.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related field, OR
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related major; no work experience required.
