Software Development Engineer – Distributed Systems

About the role

Amazon Payment Services is seeking a seasoned Software Development Engineer to design and build large‑scale, distributed computing solutions that power secure online payments across the GCC and Levant regions. You will drive technical direction, shape long‑term architecture, and own major deliverables from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers to define strategy and roadmap for new payment capabilities.
• Partner with engineering peers to create robust technical designs and implementation plans.
• Instill best practices for code quality, documentation, testing, and deployment.
• Manage project prioritization, planning, and stakeholder communication.
• Ensure operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, and production support.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to work on high‑availability production services.

Required skills

• Strong background in distributed systems design.
• Experience building web services and APIs.
• Knowledge of high‑availability and fault‑tolerant architectures.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
