Child Protection Consultant – Parenting for Violence Prevention (Remote)

About the role

The UNICEF Child Protection Section is seeking a senior consultant to provide technical assistance on parenting interventions that prevent violence against children. This remote, 12.5‑month assignment will support Country Offices and governments in designing, adapting and scaling evidence‑based, SBC‑informed parenting programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance to UNICEF Country Offices on the development and review of strategic and policy frameworks for violence prevention.
• Design, adapt and support the scale‑up of integrated parenting programmes within national systems.
• Develop Social Behaviour Change (SBC) strategies that address harmful social and gender norms.
• Document good practices and contribute to global and regional guidance on parenting for VAC prevention.
• Facilitate cross‑country and cross‑regional learning and strengthen practical SBC resources for diverse contexts.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Child Protection, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, International Development, Education, Social and Behaviour Change or a related social science discipline.
• Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in child protection, violence‑against‑children prevention, parenting or caregiving programmes.
• Proven experience providing technical assistance to governments or international organisations.
• Strong knowledge of SBC approaches and ability to work remotely with multidisciplinary teams.
