Commis I – Food and Beverage Assistant

About the role

The Commis I supports the kitchen and service teams by preparing special meals, handling food storage, and ensuring that all dishes meet the brand’s quality and presentation standards. This full‑time position works on‑site at the Westin hotel in Aqaba, Jordan, and reports to the Chef.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Pull food from freezer storage, thaw in refrigeration, and maintain accurate food logs.
• Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnish of dishes.
• Monitor food quality and quantity, informing the Chef of excess items for daily specials.
• Communicate menu specials and out‑of‑stock items to Food & Beverage service staff.
• Prepare and cook both hot and cold foods, following safety and hygiene procedures.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and employee coaching as needed.
• Follow all company safety, security, and uniform policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• Technical, trade, or vocational school degree related to culinary arts.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant food preparation or kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb, and work in a fast‑paced environment.
