Commis I – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Commis I to join our kitchen team at the Westin hotel in Aqaba. The role involves preparing special and regular meals, ensuring food quality, and supporting the culinary team during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals and substitute items according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters; pull items from freezer and thaw safely.
• Maintain accurate food logs, monitor portion sizes, garnish dishes and ensure overall food quality.
• Communicate assistance needs, inform the chef of excess items for specials, and update service staff on menu specials and out‑of‑stock items.
• Prepare and cook both hot and cold foods, following food‑preparation checklists.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling and employee coaching as required.
• Follow all company safety, security and uniform policies and report any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree in culinary arts or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.
