Community Officer

About the role

JOSA, a Jordanian non-profit promoting open source technologies, is seeking a passionate Community Officer to strengthen its technology programmes. The role will engage youth, coordinate mentors and partners, and deliver community-based learning activities that support participants’ technical and professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement community-based and skills-development activities in line with project timelines.
• Organise and support university-student-led learning events, meet-ups, and larger gatherings of up to 150 participants.
• Lead technical bootcamps, hackathons, and other competitions or challenges.
• Maintain active Communities of Practice and facilitate ongoing collaboration.
• Coordinate mentors, partners and diverse stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Document activities and produce basic reports on community engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in program coordination, youth engagement, training or community-based projects.
• At least 1 year experience managing tech communities, student clubs or organising tech events.
• Strong passion for JOSA’s mission and open-source values.
• Experience in the social-enterprise, education or technology sectors is a plus.
• Membership in JOSA is an advantage.
