Compliance Unit Head

About the role

The Compliance Unit Head will lead the bank’s compliance function in Jordan, ensuring that all regulatory, internal policy and industry‑best‑practice requirements are met. This senior position reports to senior management and works closely with business units to embed a strong compliance culture across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret regulatory developments from the Central Bank of Jordan and other authorities, driving timely implementation.
• Oversee AML/CFT, sanctions, FATCA/CRS, fraud risk management and customer protection initiatives.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments, gap analyses and testing, and recommend corrective actions.
• Review compliance risks linked to new products, services, projects and delivery channels.
• Provide advisory support to business units and senior management on regulatory matters.
• Develop, review and enhance compliance policies, procedures and frameworks.
• Manage regulatory examinations, internal and external audits, and implement remediation plans.
• Prepare and present compliance reports, key risk indicators and recommendations to senior committees.
• Promote a compliance‑focused culture through training and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking, Law or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of compliance, AML and CTF experience within the banking sector.
• Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA or equivalent preferred.
• Deep knowledge of Central Bank of Jordan regulations and local banking legislation.
• Advanced understanding of AML/CFT, international sanctions, FATCA and CRS.
• Strong analytical, reporting and presentation abilities.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
