Data Center Engineer

About the role

VTEL Holdings Limited – Jordan is seeking a Data Center Engineer to join its team in Aqaba. The role involves ensuring the reliability, performance and security of the company’s datacenter infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain datacenter infrastructure including servers, storage, racks, UPS, PDU and cooling systems.
• Monitor the datacenter environment 24/7, respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
• Perform hands‑on installation and commissioning of hardware such as servers, switches, patch panels and fiber/copper cabling.
• Maintain proper physical organization of racks, cabling and equipment labeling.
• Oversee power, cooling and environmental systems, conducting routine preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Support basic network tasks including VLAN configuration, IP addressing and cable patching.
• Log and track incidents through the ticketing system and generate regular reports on availability, capacity and performance.
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware maintenance, replacements and ensure physical security and access control procedures are followed.

Required profile

• BSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Electronics or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in datacenter operations or a similar role.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to work night shifts.
• Good communication skills in Arabic and English.
• Residency in Aqaba.

Required skills

• Knowledge of datacenter components: racks, UPS, PDU, CRAC units and structured cabling.
• Basic networking concepts: VLANs, IP addressing, switching and routing.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, PRTG or Nagios.
• Hands‑on experience installing server and network hardware.
• Experience with Cisco or Huawei equipment is a plus.
